Dear Parents/Guardians,
We hope you are enjoying a wonderful Fall Break filled with relaxation, fun, and time with family and friends! Stay safe, and we look forward to seeing everyone back at school!
This past Wednesday, October 14, during Teacher Development Day, our teachers participated in professional learning provided by the District's Teaching and Learning Department. The training focused on the Davis Model of Instruction, specifically Conducting Practicing and Deepening Lessons. As a school, we have established a goal of strengthening student learning through Structured Practice, with an emphasis on three key instructional strategies: Modeling, Close Monitoring and Varied Practice.
We appreciate our teachers' continued dedication to refining their instructional practices and providing meaningful learning experiences that support student growth and success!
We are once again grateful to have received a generous donation to help reduce outstanding student lunch balances. We kindly encourage families who are able to contribute toward their child's lunch balance to pay as much as possible. We also understand that families may experience financial challenges, and we are able to help with this generous donation. If you are experiencing difficulty paying your child's lunch balance, please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly. Please also complete the Free and Reduced Meal Application. SHARP Survey
On October 21st, Clinton Elementary will administer the Student Health and Risk Prevention (SHARP) Survey to students in 6th grade. SHARP has given us insight into what our students are facing for more than 20 years, helping parents know what to talk about with their kids and helping schools, health departments, and community partners better support students.
Only students whose parents gave consent earlier this year, during the registration processes, will take part. Participation is voluntary, students may skip questions or stop at any time without penalty. All responses are anonymous and confidential. Questions? Contact your student’s teacher or Ms. Gleed, and visit the district's Assessment & Surveys page. For SHARP FAQs and statewide results, visit sumh.utah.gov/data-reports/sharp-survey.
Vision Screenings in School
Dear parent(s) or guardian:
Davis School District follows state mandates and guidelines by providing free vision screening for students.
Vision screening is conducted under a school nurse's supervision. We screen all students in preschool, kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th grades.
Vision screenings are also given to students who are new to our district, experiencing signs of vision problems or receiving SPED evaluations.
If your student does not pass the screening, you will be notified.
If you wish to have your child NOT participate in these screenings, please notify the school’s main office or email your school nurse.
