🏰 Medieval Technology in STEM! ⚙️
In STEM this term, students are exploring how technology has changed throughout history. This week, we took a pit stop in the Middle Ages to learn how levers, pulleys, and castles were powerful forms of technology!
💥 Kinder & 1st Grade
Students learned about the parts of a castle that make it strong, then built their own castles using blocks to see if they could withstand Mrs. Riley’s Styrofoam cannonball!
✏️ 2nd & 3rd Grade
Students explored communication technology by writing silly messages with “quill and ink,” which were proudly read aloud by the town crier for the class to enjoy! 📜📣
🏹 Grades 4–6
Students learned about levers by designing and building catapults, launching tin-foil cannonballs to knock down towers like true medieval engineers!
It was an exciting, hands-on week of creativity, problem-solving, and fun while exploring medieval technology!

Our school received level 1 certification last summer for HRS (High Reliability Schools) and we're working on being level 2 certified this year. Our HRS team just got back from a conference in San Antonio, Texas where they went to learn more strategies that apply towards level 2 certification.
