We wanted to take a moment and recognize the amazing TA's (teacher assistants) in Mrs. Elliott's ASC classroom: Amber Booher, Tina Larsen, and Rachel Jacobsen! Superintendent Dr. Dan Linford, school director Traci Robbins, and school board member Brigit Gerard stopped by for a visit today. They came to thank these outstanding ladies for all their support, effort, and dedication to the students in Mrs. Elliott's classroom, to Mrs. Elliott, and what they do for our school.

America is turning 250 — and our students have something to say.

Davis School District is hosting Voices of a Nation: Student Perspectives on 250 Years of America, a districtwide speaking event aligned with America 250 Utah.

Students from every school and grade level are invited to apply to deliver an original speech about America’s past, present or future.

Selected students will receive mentorship and take the stage on May 4, 2026, at the Davis Instructional Services Center in Layton. The event will be professionally produced and live streamed for the community.

You don’t have to be famous to have something worth saying.

Take the mic. Share your idea. Be part of the story.

Applications due March 18.

🏅 STEM Olympics Ski Jump Event – What a Week! 🏅 Our STEM Olympics are officially underway, and the competition is heating up! Across the school, classes and grades have been proudly representing 10 different countries as they compete in exciting STEM challenges. A recent event was the Ski Jump! ⛷️ Students used only a straw and their breath power to launch their ski jumpers as far as possible. Each teammate contributed their distance, and we combined the results to create a total score for their country. It was incredible to see the teamwork, strategy, and determination from every group! A huge congratulations to this week’s 🥇 Gold Medal Winners! We are so proud of all our student athletes and engineers. Their creativity, perseverance, and team spirit truly embody what STEM and the Olympics are all about. We can’t wait to see what happens in next week’s event! #STEM #STEMOlympics #ElementarySTEM #KingElementary #STEMinAction #FutureEngineers #HandsOnLearning #StudentSuccess #Teamwork #STEMFun

🏰 Medieval Technology in STEM! ⚙️ In STEM this term, students are exploring how technology has changed throughout history. This week, we took a pit stop in the Middle Ages to learn how levers, pulleys, and castles were powerful forms of technology! 💥 Kinder & 1st Grade Students learned about the parts of a castle that make it strong, then built their own castles using blocks to see if they could withstand Mrs. Riley’s Styrofoam cannonball! ✏️ 2nd & 3rd Grade Students explored communication technology by writing silly messages with “quill and ink,” which were proudly read aloud by the town crier for the class to enjoy! 📜📣 🏹 Grades 4–6 Students learned about levers by designing and building catapults, launching tin-foil cannonballs to knock down towers like true medieval engineers! It was an exciting, hands-on week of creativity, problem-solving, and fun while exploring medieval technology! #STEM #STEMEducation #KingElementary #KingElementarySTEM #ElementarySTEM #HandsOnLearning #FutureEngineers #HistoryMeetsSTEM 🏰⚙️
