🎨Our House Leaders are back at it! Some of our student leaders joined Mrs. Wanlass to decorate the sidewalk and create a warm, colorful welcome for everyone returning to school.
We love seeing their creativity, teamwork, and school spirit shining bright! What a wonderful way to kick off the new school year! 💙💛

🎉 Our school spirit is growing—one yard sign at a time! 🦁💙💛
As our teachers visit families for beginning-of-the-year home visits, students/families are receiving their very own yard sign featuring this year's school theme:
✨ Expanding our R.O.A.R. with the Courage to Learn ✨
Throughout the school year, each month will focus on a special theme during our House Meetings. Students will earn a themed sticker to add to their yard sign as they continue expanding their R.O.A.R. all year long!
We can't wait to see these signs proudly displayed throughout our community. Thank you for helping us celebrate our amazing students and show your school pride!

Ms. Johnson and Ms. Swinyard joined several other volunteers at the annual District Child Spree event, sponsored by the DSD Foundation. In partnership with Kohl's, the event helps provide students with the clothing and school essentials they need to start the new school year with confidence and the tools for success.

Our summer camp students went on an adventure! 🐠🌊🐢
They had an unforgettable day exploring the Living Planet Aquarium! From colorful fish and playful penguins to fascinating reptiles and majestic sharks, they learned about animals from around the world and the unique habitats they call home. 🦈🐧🐍
Hands-on learning outside the classroom helps spark curiosity and creates lasting memories. What a fun way to discover the wonders of our planet! 💙🌎

💙💛 We're gearing up for an amazing new school year, and our administration team couldn't be more excited to welcome our students back! 🎉
Behind the scenes, we've been hard at work preparing for another year of learning, growth, and unforgettable memories. We can't wait to see our hallways filled with smiling faces again!
We're also thrilled to welcome Jon Bridges to our team as our new Administrative Intern. We're excited to have Jon join us and look forward to the positive impact he'll make this year.
Here's to a fantastic school year ahead; we'll see you soon! -Ms. Johnson, Ms. Swinyard, & Mr. Bridges 💙💛📚🍎

Our Schools, Our Communities.
This summer, we're sharing some of the programs, traditions and experiences that help make Davis School District schools unique.
Today we're featuring King Elementary.
The adventures continue long after the school year ends at King Elementary. Last summer, staff members take their classroom "gators" along on their travels, sharing where they go and bringing a little King Elementary spirit wherever their adventures take them.

Some of our amazing staff had the opportunity to attend the Show Up for Utah Teachers Conference hosted by Abby Cox! 🌟
Throughout the conference, they participated in inspiring sessions focused on finding their focus, reflecting on their teaching practices, and identifying meaningful ways to grow in their classrooms. We love seeing our educators invest in their professional learning and bring back fresh ideas, new strategies, and renewed inspiration to benefit our students. We can't wait to see these ideas come to life in their classrooms! 🍎📚

🇺🇸 In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary this summer, Mrs. Morrell encouraged her 4th grade students to participate in a national contest by creating artwork or writing an essay answering the question, “What America Means to Me.” Five students accepted the challenge and submitted original drawings showcasing their creativity and patriotism. We’re so proud of their willingness to share their talents and represent our school! ❤️🤍💙 #KingLions #America250

During the Florida Summer Conference, Group 3 of our teaching staff experienced the High Reliability Schools framework firsthand. They returned with expanded knowledge, refined skills, and a stronger commitment to doing the "right" work that has the greatest impact on student learning. #ExpandingourROAR #CouragetoLearn #KingElementary

Our Summer Kinder Camp was a wonderful way to kick off the journey to kindergarten! ☀️📚
This week, incoming kindergarteners who were able to participate joined us for a two-day camp filled with learning, exploration, and fun. Students got a head start on some of the activities they'll enjoy during the school year, including creating with Play-Doh, building with blocks, painting, and using markers.
Campers learned about our daily morning meetings, listened to engaging read-aloud stories, met their kindergarten teachers, and even had the chance to make connections with some of their future classmates.
We loved getting to know these future students and can't wait to welcome them back for an amazing kindergarten year! ❤️🍎✨

Our summer school students had an amazing opportunity this year! 🏊☀️
Thanks to funding provided by the Davis School District School Board, our students enjoyed two weeks of swim lessons at Layton Surf n' Swim. During their lessons, they learned valuable swimming skills, water safety techniques, and gained confidence in the water.
A huge thank you to the instructors and staff at Layton Surf n' Swim for sharing their time, expertise, and enthusiasm with our students. We are so grateful for this partnership and for helping our kids build skills that can last a lifetime! 💙🌊

Adventure Awaits! 🧭✨
Our teachers had an incredible time at the Davis School District Summer R&R Conference, exploring new ideas, strategies, and opportunities for growth. From engaging language arts and math sessions to creative ways to incorporate movement into the classroom, our educators embraced every opportunity to learn and collaborate.
One of the biggest takeaways and reminders? The importance of building strong relationships that help every student feel connected, supported, and ready to succeed. ❤️
We're excited to bring these new adventures in learning back to our classrooms and continue creating meaningful experiences for our students. The journey continues, and we can't wait to see where it leads!

Our 6th graders in Ms. Bowser's class put their engineering skills to the test by designing and building bridges out of recycled materials for our Bridge to Terabithia CKLA unit! 🌉♻️ After planning, creating, and testing their designs, students discovered just how much creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving go into building a strong bridge. #STEM #6thGrade #KingLions

Our 4th graders had a blast celebrating Pioneer Day with hands-on activities, teamwork, and a little step back in time! From pioneer games to learning about life on the trail, these students brought history to life and made memories along the way.

Mrs. Morrell’s 4th grade class recently stepped back in time at This Is the Place Heritage Park on a field trip! From pulling handcarts and riding the train to experiencing an 1800s schoolhouse (dunce cap included 😅) and learning how animal skins were turned into leather, it was a day full of hands-on history and unforgettable memories.

During their STEM class, 5th graders got a little egg-cited while learning about density! 🥚🧪 Students tested eggs in water to see if they would sink or float, then added salt and sugar to discover how changing the water affected the results. There were lots of predictions, surprises, and hands-on science fun! 🔬✨
Ask your student what happened to the egg when the water changed! 👀
